PROFILE OF REV FR SIMON ANIGBOGU

Picture Fr. Simon Rev. Fr. Simon Anigbogu is a priest of the Catholic Diocese of Awka and a development practitioner with vast experience in Human and Community Building. He is the Director of JDPC Awka and responsible for the day to day affairs of the organization.

Background:

Fr. Anigbogu Simon was born on 18th Oct. 1975. Hails from Achina Town in Aguata Local Government Area, Anambra State, Nigeria. He had his primary education at Eke Primary School Achina and attended St Dominic Savio Awka at JohnBosco Seminary Isuaniocha for his secondary education. He attended Bigard Memorial Major Seminary Enugu where he studied philosophy and theology and was ordained a priest on the 20th of August 2007.

Pastoral Experience:

Fr. Simon served as a Vicar at All Saints Parish Awgbu, soon after his ordination from where he went to Chad(2009-2011).Fr. Simon did his post graduate studies in Peace and Conflict Resolution at the National Open University, with an interest in using diplomatic approaches to further promote peace in the society and resolve conflicts amongst people of all faith for sustained development. Upon his appointment as the Diocesan director of Justice Development and Peace Caritas Awka due to his passion, He took keen interest in Agriculture as a measure to ending Poverty and Reducing Hunger in the Society, In addition to his Humanitarian acts by providing means of livelihood to the less privileged of the society he engages in prisoners’ pastoral visit, where he donates materials and food fortheir welfare amidstcounseling them.

Development Experience:

Fr. Simon has demonstrated astute leadership initiatives with his work at the Diocesan Catholic Secretariat, multi-tasking and coordinating complex initiatives as it mostly concerns JDPC Awka. In the journey of civil society involvement regardingdevelopment and Human capacity building, His interest in creatingbetter living conditions in rural and urban communities led to the skills acquisition in Tailoring embarked upon by the organisation for Women/ Young girls and having shown his unique initiatives to his work, He is fully utilizing opportunities provided from training and exposure he has had to promote the welfare of the needy who come to him for Aid.
